IM Anna Zatonskih defeated IM Irina Krush with the black pieces in an Armageddon game (see the score below) to earn the chance to play for the women's title against WFM Tatev Abrahamyan who had won her tiebreak against WGM Camilla Baginskaite. GM Yuri Shulman defeated GM Robert Hess in their tiebreak which will send him into the title match against defending champion GM Gata Kamsky. Kamsky won last year's title in an Armageddon tiebreak game against Shulman.
